Gomez Preserve Nature Trail is a small hidden gem in Martin County’s park system. While there is no parking exclusively for the trail, it is near Peck Lake Park and Seabranch Preserve State Park in Hobe Sound, which provide access to the East Coast Greenway, a hiking and biking trail. The site also offers cultural significance, as it is the original site of a Bahamian settlement from the early 1900s, some of the earliest settlers of Hobe Sound. On the trail, visitors can see Gopher tortoises, bobcats, one of Florida’s two big cat species, and native birds such as osprey and many species of song birds.

Gomez Preserve Nature Trail is a 61-acre preserve that is accessible as a direct connection to the East Coast Greenway that traverses through the Seabranch Preserve State Park. Located in central Martin County, the preserve is approximately 4.5 miles south of the St. Lucie Inlet, along the Indian River Lagoon.

Site amenities include a chickee with picnic tables, a six (6) foot wide shellrock fitness trail with exercise stations and a covered bench. Future amenities will include an educational kiosk with signage depicting the historical Bahamian settlement.
