During World War II, Florida became a critical center for military training, coastal defense, aviation, naval operations, and top-secret activities. Dr. Atwood will take you behind the scenes of some of the remarkable installations and operations that helped make Florida an important part of the American war effort.

Discover the stories behind top-secret installations at Jonathan Dickinson State Park, the history of Morrison Army Airfield—later renamed Palm Beach International Airport, Sonar Navy training in Key West, the Naval Amphibious Training Base at Fort Pierce, and other fascinating locations throughout the state.

With his extensive knowledge of Florida military history and his book State of War: A History of World War II in Florida, Dr. Atwood brings these forgotten stories to life and reveals how the war transformed Florida’s landscape, communities, and military importance.
