Join us for a morning cleaning up the shores of the Indian River Lagoon!
We will be hosting a FREE volunteer shoreline cleanup event this Stewardship Sunday at Blowing Rocks Preserve! Plastic pollution is a serious issue facing marine habitats and can pose serious threats to wildlife, as well as making our trips to the beach less enjoyable. Plastic pollution especially impacts habitats in the Indian River Lagoon, one of the most biodiverse estuaries in North America! Join us in combatting this issue by picking up marine debris along our lagoon shoreline!
Check-in for this event begins at 9:45 AM in the west parking lot, outside of Hawley Education Center. All necessary tools and supplies will be provided by The Nature Conservancy.
Prepare to spend your time in the sun walking on uneven terrain, and keep in mind your feet always have the potential to get wet. Please note the sand gets hot. Please come prepared with sun protection, a reusable water bottle, and bug spray if needed.
Recommended for ages 8 and up. All youths under 18 years old must be accompanied by an adult. Participation involves light to moderate physical activity.
