Come experience the REAL Florida by way of a Kayak.l St. Lucie Inlet Preserve State Park is now offering a guided tour that takes visitors through the Indian River and the narrows to Jupiter Island. This is a unique opportunity to visit one of Florida’s magnificent barrier islands. You will paddle through mangrove-lined creeks, and the tour will break at a pristine, undeveloped beach. Both the mangrove and the beach dune communities are home to numerous rare species of plants and animals, including some that are endemic or endangered. Your guide will point out various species and provide insight into the management activites used on the island. The interpretive tour is free and entry to the park is only $2.00 per kayak. Bring your own kayak or rent one from the park (Call in advance for reservations-$26.50 single, $37.10 tandem, plus $2.00 park entry). Visitors of all ages and skill levels are welcome, the tour should take approximately 3 hours. Meet at 4810 SE Cove Rd. Stuart, FL. 34997. Take Cove Rd. (Port Salerno/Stuart area), east through the traffic circle at Dixie Highway, then make your first right into the driveway. The office is approximately 1 mile from where we will be launching into the Intracoastal Waterway at Cove Road County Park.
What to bring: A kayak (if not renting), clothes and shoes that can get wet, drinking water, snacks, lunch (if you’d like to picnic on the beach), hat, sunscreen, bug repellant, camera, beach towel. No pets or alcoholic beverages.
