Cow Creek Chronicles: Florida’s Past Comes Alive
With Author Gregory Enns
Step back in time with award-winning journalist and historian Gregory Enns as he brings to life the vivid history of Florida’s Cow Creek Ranch, the focus of his upcoming book Cow Creek Chronicles, to be released by the University Press of Florida this October.
From the days when mastodons and mammoths roamed the land, to the Ais people’s seasonal hunts, to the Seminole tribe’s storied presence—Cow Creek has been a silent witness to centuries of change. Discover the remarkable story of Polly Parker, known as the Evangeline of the tribe, and learn how Seminoles and cattlemen coexisted during the open-range era before barbed wire reshaped Florida’s landscape.
Enns will also explore the fascinating history of cattle in Florida and how pioneering ranches like Cow Creek came to be. His presentation offers a rare glimpse into the people, cultures, and natural history that shaped the Treasure Coast.
