Started in 2016 as a competition between Los Angeles and San Francisco, the City Nature Challenge (CNC) has grown into an international event, motivating people around the world to find and document wildlife in their own cities. Taking place April 24 – 27, this global friendly competition is a fun way to participate in citizen science & to contribute to documenting biodiversity!
This year, Martin County will be taking part in the City Nature Challenge!
It is easy and free for you to participate!
- Download the free iNaturalist App
- While exploring outdoors between April 24 – 27 in Martin County, snap photos of wild plants and animals
- Upload your observations to iNaturalist between April 24 – 27
- Don’t forget to turn on your location services so your observations can count for Martin County!

- 4/24: Guided hike at Jonathan Dickinson State Park
- 4/26: Guided hike at Savannas Preserve State Park
- 4/26: Planting and Bioblitz with Martin County Florida Native Plant Society at the Environmental Studies Center
- 4/27: Guided hike with Explore Natural Martin at Kiplinger Preserve
- 4/27: Bioblitz with UF/IFAS at Flagler Park
