Title: The Beautiful Birds of Florida

Description:
Join us in hearing from John Nelson, with Audubon Society, for an engaging presentation on the diverse birdlife of Florida and the joy of birding! Using science to guide their priorities and birdlife to measure ecosystem health, Audubon advocates for the protection of land, water, and wildlife. Each February, for four days, the world comes together for the love of birds. The Great Backyard Bird Count, taking place February 14-17, 2025, is an inter-organizational effort between the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, National Audubon Society, and Birds Canada. Over these four days you are invited to spend time in your favorite places watching and counting as many birds as you can find and reporting them. These observations help scientists better understand global bird populations before one of their annual migrations. Come learn how to participate in this community science effort and about the joy of birding, even in your own backyard!

Save the date! Blowing Rocks Preserve will be partnering with Audubon of Martin County’s birder, Lorraine Morecraft, to lead a public bird walk to conduct a survey for the Great Backyard Bird Count on Saturday, February 15, 2025. Event details will be posted on our EventBrite page. We hope to have you join us!
