How is it that you found your way to Stuart Florida? My reasons may be different than yours but I am reasonably certain that, once you got here, you found a multitude of ways to indulge and tantalize your appetite for culture and entertainment!
This place literally ROCKS!
With The Lyric Theater, numerous waterfront restaurants, tiki bars and trendy cafes presenting live music, The Rock ‘N Riverwalk Free Concert Series and Terra Fermata, it seems like no matter where (or when) I go out in Martin County. I can find a really cool music scene!
There is a thriving local music community burgeoning with talent. A few of “our own” have even left their mark on the national music scene. Martin County household names that regularly get mentioned around the dinner table in other parts of the country (and world) include Ben Prestage, The Nouveaux Honkies and Alex Meixner.
Ben Prestage is a down and dirty, delta swampy, one man band, bluesmythe from Indiantown. His musical background began before he was born… even before his parents were born. Ben’s great-grandmother was a Vaudeville musican who toured with Al Jolson and also participated in medicine shows. Annually, he tours Europe and a good portion of the US. Ben is selective about the venues he plays locally but is a regular performer at Terra Fermata.

The Honkies, led by the creative direction of Tim O’Donnell from Port Selerno along with his wife, Rebecca, jump in their customized RV every year to deliver their infectious brand of folk/roots music to venues and festivals across the country. When they are not traveling, they are entertaining their throngs of local fans here in Stuart!
Alex Meixner, a Grammy nominee for his “Polka FreakOut” album with Bubba Hernandez is highly regarded for his traditional Austrian-German repertoire, as well as contemporary fusions with folk and pop music from around the world that make his shows entertaining for audiences of all backgrounds! The Alex Meixner Band from Palm City, FL is considered to be one of the hardest working bands in polka music today. Performing over 100 dates throughout the USA annually,
