Why spend another Christmas shivering in the cold when you can soak up the sun (and season’s greetings!) in southern Florida? Swap out snow-covered streets for white sand beaches in our under-the-radar escape. Trade chestnuts roasting on an open fire for making s’mores over a beach bonfire (with a special permit). And instead of forming snow angels, kids can spend their vacation building sandcastles! Keep reading to find out why the holidays are better in Martin County.
No Flurries is the Forecast!
The song “White Christmas” means something a little different down here. With over 22 miles of uncrowded beaches, Martin County offers serene shores and sandy stretches as far as the eye can see. It’s a beach bum’s paradise that’ll make you feel like you landed on Santa’s “nice list.” Even better, our beaches are open 24/7, parking is always free, and they’re alcohol-friendly! We have four public beaches with full-time lifeguards (and free rolling beach wheelchairs!) plus countless other smaller, tucked-away options.
Experience Our Small-Town Charm
Want to feel like you’ve stepped into your very own Hallmark holiday movie? Our charming downtown districts will have you feeling warm and fuzzy in no time! All year long, our laid-back community welcomes visitors from across the globe. With a total population of about 150,000 people, Martin County has a small-town feel everywhere you go. And the magic really hits new heights during the holiday season. Our downtown streets, quaint hotels, and beautiful boutiques come alive with twinkling lights, flickering menorahs, jingling sleigh bells, and so much more! Jolly Old St. Nick has even been known to make an appearance.
Soak Up the 70 Degree Weather
With average daily temperatures in the high 70’s, Martin County’s “cool season” is perfect for indoor or outdoor holiday celebrations! If you plan to travel to Martin County during this particular season, make sure to pack your shorts, sundresses, sandals, and sunglasses — but be sure to leave the gloves and earmuffs at home!
Celebrate Unique Events & Festivities
Christmastime along Florida’s Treasure Coast welcomes a slew of cheerful holiday events — each with their own festive Florida flair! Make sure you don’t miss the annual Martin County Christmas Boat Parade in Stuart. This annual tradition features a fleet of boats decked out in their holiday best, bringing joy and Christmas cheer to all who attend! Another favorite is the Tree Lighting Ceremony and Taste of Jensen culinary festival in Downtown Jensen Beach. These celebrations only add to that small-town charm we were talking about.
Shop Til You Drop
It’s no secret that Martin County is a fashionista’s dream vacation spot! Martin County offers an eclectic array of retail opportunities — from Gumbo Limbo Coastal Chic in Downtown Stuart to the Posh Pineapple Boutique in Hobe Sound. Our local shops carry a broad range of goods, from designer dresses and jaw-dropping jewelry to home decor, handmade art, and eclectic souvenirs! Witness the Wonder of the “Christmas Mansion”
Locals call it the “Christmas Mansion” and visitors say it rivals Disney’s holiday displays — which is especially impressive considering it’s a private residence! This unofficial Martin County attraction is fan favorite every year. During the holiday season, Robert and Elsa Eustace transform their 50,000-square-foot beachfront home into a magical winter wonderland. The Hutchinson Island estate puts on a dazzling display including approximately 700,000 twinkling lights. Located at 4545 N.E Ocean Blvd, visitors are welcome to explore the spectacle and take photos of the stunning Christmas display!
