Earlier this year, we launched our award-winning ecotourism program, Explore Natural Martin, developed in partnership with the Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics. Since then we’ve had hundreds of visitors and residents participate in our free eco-tours. From guided mangrove hikes and specially-permitted sea turtle nest excavations to moon observation nights with the Astronomical Society of the Treasure Coast, there’s something for everyone to enjoy! And what’s better than exploring the outdoors while learning how we can all better protect our paradise?
Now there’s a new way to discover the beauty of our natural areas. As our ecotourism program continues to grow and evolve, we’re thrilled to announce the Explore Natural Martin EcoTrail!
The free, mobile-exclusive trail highlights more than 20 of Martin County’s outdoor wonders and attractions, including state and local parks, beaches, nature preserves, museums, and more. Visitors (and locals!) can sign up for the free pass to learn more about these local points of interest while getting useful eco-tips for the various stops.
The mobile pass is also GPS-enabled, so you can “check-in” and earn points at each stop along the trail. The pass will keep track of your balance, and once you’ve accrued enough points, you can redeem them for cool prizes. You can also earn points for attending our Explore Natural Martin programs (advance registration required) and you’ll even earn bonus points for staying overnight at one of our Florida Green Lodging Program properties.
The EcoTrail was developed in partnership with Bandwango (a travel technology platform) and you can sign up HERE.
So what are you waiting for?! We’ll see you out there!
And remember…”take only picture, leave only footprints.”
