Florida Oceanographic Coastal Center
The Florida Oceanographic Coastal Center is located on Hutchinson Island. Situated between the Atlantic Ocean and the Indian River Lagoon, the 57-acre parcel houses the Society’s headquarters, nature trails, 750,000-gallon Game Fish Lagoon, Sea Turtle Pavilion, Children’s Activity Pavilion, Sea Star Touch Tank Pavilion, Rays on the Reef Ray Pavilion, the Frances Langford Visitors Center, and the new Ocean EcoCenter. With its coastal hardwood hammocks and mangrove swamp communities, the site provides excellent opportunities for education and research aimed at increasing visitors’ knowledge of these unique environments.
The Children's Museum of the Treasure Coast
Calling all kiddos! The Children’s Museum of the Treasure Coast is located in the heart of Indian Riverside Park in Jensen Beach. Their mission is to offer children and families a place to explore and learn through hands-on, and interactive activities. Play all day at the interactive exhibits, including the Fire House, the Publix Town Market, the Vet Clinic, the Marti Frances Pirate Ship, and more! You can even learn about boating safety, explore the butterfly garden, and enjoy some fresh air in the outdoor playground.
The Elliott Museum
Welcome to the Elliott Museum – where history, art, and innovation collide! Explore the wonders of the past and the marvels of the future at the Elliott Museum, a treasure trove of knowledge and inspiration. Located on Hutchinson Island, this museum is a haven for history buffs, art-lovers, baseball fanatics, car enthusiasts, and anyone curious about the fascinating journey of human achievement. House of Refuge
Step back in time to the turn of the century with a visit to the House of Refuge Museum at Gilbert’s Bar. The Houses of Refuge were designated as havens for shipwrecked sailors and travelers along the sparsely populated Atlantic coastline of Florida – and the House of Refuge on Hutchinson Island is the only original house still standing. Explore the oldest building in Martin County, which now serves as a fascinating museum depicting what life was like during this bygone era.
Hobe Sound Nature Center
The Hobe Sound Nature Center is located within the Hobe Sound National Wildlife Refuge and is dedicated to environmental awareness and education. Nature trails on-site allow for hikes on estuaries, barrier islands, and the sand pine scrub. The refuge is home to many plant and animal species, including scrub jays, gopher tortoises, four-petaled pawpaws, dancing lady orchids, and more! Inside the nature center, you’ll get to meet lots of different critters and learn all about what makes this area so special.
Sailfish Splash Water Park
Looking to cool off? Sailfish Splash Water Park in Stuart is place to be! The popular seasonal attraction features two four-story water slides, a relaxing 1,000-foot lazy river, an interactive water playground, and an Olympic-class competitive swim venue. Visitors can book private cabanas for a luxurious aquatic experience or their ‘funbrellas’ for a stylish way to stay in the shade. You can even grab a bite at the snack counter after working up an appetite. Come have a splashtastic time!
