SUMMARY:Steve Earle-51 Years of Songs & Stories
DESCRIPTION:When Steve Earle was inducted into The Grand Ole Opry in September 2025\, he became one of the legendary theater’s newest members. That’s only one of the honors the singer/songwriter\, one of the most acclaimed of his generation\, has achieved. He is a member of the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame and was honored by the Bruce Springsteen Archives & Center for American Music. \nEarle\, a protégé of legendary songwriters Townes Van Zandt and Guy Clark\, quickly became a master storyteller in his own right\, with songs recorded by Johnny Cash\, Waylon Jennings\, Joan Baez\, Emmylou Harris\, and the Pretenders. His debut album\, Guitar Town\, was the one that put him on the map. The lead single peaked at Number 7 on the Billboard Hot Country chart and the album is regarded as a classic of the Americana genre. Subsequent releases\, like The Revolution Starts…Now\, Washington Square Serenade\, and TOWNES received Grammy Awards for Best Contemporary Folk Album; he also has four additional nominations in the same category. \nRestlessly creative across several artistic disciplines\, Earle has published a novel and collection of short stories\, produced albums for other artists\, including Joan Baez and Lucinda Williams\, acted in film and television\, including on The Wire\, and on stage. In 2009\, he appeared in the off-Broadway play\, Samara\, for which he wrote a score that The New York Times described as “Exquisitely subliminal.” He also wrote music and appeared in Coal Country; a Public Theatre play that explored the deadliest mining accident in U.S. history. He was nominated for a Drama Desk Award for his work on the music. He is also the host of the weekly show\, Hard Core Troubadour\, on Sirius Radio’s Outlaw Country channel. \nCome hear a talent as much at home writing the music as he is playing it. If you don’t know Steve Earle\, you’re in for a treat.

DESCRIPTION:With musical versatility\, instrumental prowess\, beautiful vocal harmonies\, and a premier rhythm section\, Easy Star All-Stars has become one of the top international reggae acts of the last two decades. They’ve toured more than 30 countries on six continents\, bringing together fans of reggae\, classic rock\, dub\, and indie rock into one big family. \nThe band was founded in 1997 in New York City and rapidly became known for its reinterpretations of classic albums in a reggae style. The series began with Dub Side of the Moon\, (2003)\, the critically acclaimed reggae reworking of the classic Pink Floyd album\, and continued in 2006 with Radiodread\, Easy Star’s Lonely Hearts Dub Band (2009)\, and Easy Star’s Thrillah (2012)\, as well as the remix album\, Dubber Side of the Moon (2010) and two original collections. \nIn 2023\, the band released its first new tribute album in 11 years\, Ziggy Stardub\, a complete reggae re-imagining of David Bowie’s The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and The Spiders from Mars album. Featured guest performers include Macy Gray\, Maxi Priest\, Steel Pulse\, Fishbone\, Mortimer\, The Skints\, Samory I\, Naomi Cowan\, SunDub\, Alex Lifeson (Rush) and Vernon Reid (Living Colour.) \nMichael Goldwasser\, a co-founder of the band and producer and arranger of the tribute albums\, told Billboard magazine in April 2023 that these albums are very special to him. “I put in many interesting details to give the listener something different to focus on each time\,” he said. “I treat these albums with reverence and humor; music should be fun\, but I have reverence for the original material\, and anyone listening will recognize both of these traits. People have told me that listening to our tribute albums got them into reggae. That’s part of Easy Star’s mission: to break down barriers. If you can open your mind and your heart to different music\, you can open your mind and your heart to different people.” \nIt’s that Easy. \nWith Supporting Act SunDub

SUMMARY:Eric Johnson
DESCRIPTION:One of the most outstanding instrumentalists in rock over the past 40 years\, Texas guitarist Eric Johnson was already a legend before he recorded his first album. By the early 1980s\, many celebrated guitarists were singing the praises of this skinny kid from Austin with the mind-melting chops. Comparisons were made to such guitar heroes as Jeff Beck and Jimi Hendrix and when he joined the ‘70s Austin fusion band Electromagnets they were being hailed as “the Mahavishnu Orchestra of Texas”. With the release of his highly-anticipated 1986 solo debut album Tones\, the underground guitar legend finally emerged onto the scene fully-formed. It landed him on the cover of Guitar Player magazine\, which hailed the album as a “majestic debut”\, and earned him his first Grammy nomination for the song “Zap”. With the release of his follow up album\, 1990’s platinum-selling Ah Via Musicom\, which contained the Grammy Award winning song “Cliffs of Dover”\, Eric Johnson became a bona fide international guitar phenomenon. \nThe New Age Music Guide once opined that “Eric Johnson plays guitar the way Michelangelo painted ceilings: with a colorful vibrancy that’s more real than life” while Rolling Stone included him in their list of the 100 Greatest Guitarists of the 21st century. A dynamic singer as well as an incredibly gifted guitarist\, a pianist and a prolific songwriter\, Eric has been featured on the cover of countless guitar magazines around the world while also racking up critical accolades along the way. \nSince 1986 Eric has released seventeen albums\, in addition to albums with other artists such as Eclectic with jazz guitarist Mike Stern\, and the platinum-selling G3 Live with Joe Satriani and Steve Vai. Eric has received eight Grammy nominations along with numerous other recognitions\, awards and wins in various polls and magazines. Among Johnson’s many accolades are a GRAMMY award in 1992 for “Cliffs of Dover” as Best Rock Instrumental Performance\, lifetime induction into the Guitar Player Gallery of Greats\, and his listing among the “100 Greatest Guitarists of the 20th Century” by Musician magazine. In his hometown of Austin Texas\, a city full of guitarists\, the readers of the Austin Chronicle voted Eric Johnson the city’s “Best Electric Guitarist” and “Best Acoustic Guitarist” in their yearly poll year after year. They also named him “Electric Guitarist of the Decade” and one of the top five “Musicians of the Decade”. In February 2024 Eric was honored with induction into the Texas Heritage Songwriters Association Hall of Fame. \n2023 found Eric on his ‘Treasure Tour’\, 67 US dates that were split between a Spring and a Fall tour. In January and February 2024 Eric joined the ‘G3 Reunion Tour’ with Joe Satriani and Steve Vai\, and the resulting new live album from the tour will be released in January 2025. In August 2024 he heads out for a run of dates in the north and northeast including the Backroads Blues Festival in New York. In September and October 2024 Eric was a featured performer on the ‘Experience Hendrix 2024 Tour’\, crossing the country from Washington state to Florida\, and then rejoined in March and April 2025 for the ‘Experience Hendrix 2025 Tour’ throughout the east and northeast USA and Canada. \nOver the course of more than four decades\, Eric Johnson has been traveling on a prolific odyssey. Along the way\, his creations have cross-pollinated the various musical genres which include rock\, blues\, jazz\, fusion\, soul\, folk\, new-age\, classical\, and even country. Inevitably EJ says it best himself in sharing that regardless of the genre “It really boils down to the music and the song at the end of the day”\, he explains. “The most important thing for me is to grow musically and make a more expansive and meaningful artistic statement with every new project”.

SUMMARY:Charlie Musselwhite Duo
DESCRIPTION:For 50 years\, Charlie Musselwhite has toured\, performed\, and recorded. He is living proof that great music only gets better with age: he is a 33-time Blues Music Award winner\, many-times Living Blues Award winner\, 13-time Grammy nominee\, 2014 Grammy winner for Get Up with Ben Harper\, and 2019 Grammy nominee for No Mercy in this Land\, also with Ben Harper. In 2020\, he joined with his friend Elvin Bishop and released the Grammy-nominated\, Blues Music Award-winning 100 Years of Blues. It debuted at Number One on the Billboard Blues Chart and Downbeat named it the Best Blues Album of the Year. In addition to his own albums\, Musselwhite has been featured on recordings by Tom Waits\, Eddy Vedder\, John Lee Hooker\, Bonnie Raitt\, The Blind Boys of Alabama\, and Cyndi Lauper. He was inducted into the Blues Foundation’s Blues Hall of Fame in 2010. \nJoining Charlie at The Lyric Theatre is four-time Grammy nominated artist\, Bob Welsh. Hailing from Covington\, La.\, Bob moved to the Bay Area in his late teens\, where he’s been part of the roots music scene for twenty-five years. He started out in the Rusty Zinn band\, and from there has backed up & toured with multiple luminaries all over the world\, including Charlie Musselwhite\, Kim Wilson\, John Nemeth\, Mark Hummel\, Eric Lindell\, Ren Geisick\, Aireene Espiritu\, Roy Gaines\, Snooky Pryor\, Pinetop Perkins\, Billy Boy Arnold\, Lazy Lester\, James Harman\, James Cotton\, Aki Kumar and many others. \nCharlie Musselwhite’s story is a classic blues song come to life. Born in Kosciusko\, Mississippi\, he was raised by a single mother who moved the family to Memphis when he was a child. He grew up surrounded by blues\, hillbilly\, and gospel music that he heard on the radio or from neighborhood musicians. As a teen\, he worked as a ditch digger\, concrete layer\, and moonshine runner. Fascinated by the blues\, Charlie Musselwhite began playing the guitar and harmonica. He crossed paths with local musicians including Elvis Presley\, Johnny Cash\, and Johnny Burnette\, but the musicians he sought out were veteran Memphis bluesmen like Furry Lewis\, Will Shade\, and Gus Cannon. \nIn the early 1960s\, Charlie Musselwhite moved to Chicago\, looking for better-paying work. While driving an exterminator’s truck by day\, he hung out in the city’s South Side blues clubs at night. He befriended blues harmonica player Big Walter Horton and became especially close to venerated country bluesman Big Joe Williams. His other friends included blues icons Little Walter\, Sonny Boy Williamson\, and Howlin’ Wolf\, and he soaked up licks\, lyrics\, and life lessons whenever he could. Before long\, he was sitting in clubs with Muddy Waters and Jimmy Reed\, building an impressive word-of-mouth reputation. In 1966\, at the age of 22\, he recorded the landmark Stand Back! to rave reviews. In 1967\, he moved to San Francisco\, where his album was being played on underground radio. He was welcomed into the counterculture scene around the Fillmore West as someone who played the “real deal” blues. \nNow\, Musselwhite has released Mississippi Son\, an album that takes him full circle\, back to Mississippi from all the points in between. It is a compilation of the wisdom and lessons he’s learned through his decades of worldwide touring. “Blues tells the truth in a world that’s full of lies\,” he says in “Blues Gave Me a Ride.” Through his evocative vocals\, masterful harmonica playing\, and note-perfect country blues guitar\, Charlie Musselwhite delivers “blues’ honest truth.” \nCharlie Musselwhite\, more than any other harmonica player of his generation\, can rightfully lay claim to inheriting the mantle of the great harp players who came before. In an era when the term legendary gets applied to auto-tuned pop stars\, this singular blues harp player\, singer\, songwriter\, and guitarist has earned and deserves to be honored as a true master of American classic vernacular music. He is at the top of his game\, a revered elder statesman of the blues\, nowhere near ready to hang up his harps. His depth of expression as a singer and an instrumentalist is unparalleled and only growing deeper. \nWithout American music\, there is no Charlie Musselwhite. Without Charlie Musselwhite\, American music is the poorer. Hear him play. It’s the blues’ honest truth.

SUMMARY:Squirrel Nut Zippers 'In The Afterlife' Celebrating 30 Years of Hot
DESCRIPTION:When Hot first hit the airwaves in 1996\, it didn’t just ignite excitement — it sparked a cultural bonfire. With its infectious blend of swing\, jazz\, Delta blues\, and Southern storytelling\, Hot rocketed Squirrel Nut Zippers from the underground scene of Chapel Hill\, NC\, to the national stage\, going Platinum and defining a generation’s rediscovery of vintage Americana.\nThe band’s breakout sophomore album captured lightning in a bottle. Recorded at the famed Kingsway Studio in New Orleans (owned by Daneil Lanois)\, the record radiated with authenticity. Featuring a warm\, analog sound\, paired with wry\, vivid storytelling\, the album topped the Billboard 200 charts for an impressive 51 weeks and included such standout tracks as “Put a Lid On It\,” “Blue Angel\,” and its biggest hit to-date “Hell.” \n“Hell\,” which at the time\, was considered an unlikely radio single\, topped the Alternative Airplay charts at #13 and has become a pivotal piece of pop culture as it continues to heat up the radio and TV airwaves\, appearing on alt rock and Americana stations and in such prominent television shows as Wednesday (2025) and Lucifer (2021).\nNow\, 30 years later\, the Zippers are celebrating the ever-lasting magic of Hot with the “In The Afterlife” tour\, where the band will play the record in its entirety. The 30th celebration of Hot is not just a look back — it’s a salute to resilience\, innovation\, and the enduring power of a band that never stopped evolving. \nFormed in 1993 by Jimbo Mathus\, Katharine Whalen\, and a tight-knit group of musical misfits\, Squirrel Nut Zippers defied genre from the start. Their sound — an intoxicating mix of prohibition-era jazz\, big band bravado\, and punk-rock irreverence — invited listeners into a world where vaudeville met voodoo and speakeasy swagger met Southern soul. \nLed by Mathus\, and managed by original drummer Chris Phillips\, the modern-day Zippers continue to honor that legacy while breathing new life into their beloved catalog. As the Squirrel Nut Zippers bring Hot back to the stage\, fans old and new are rediscovering what made the album — and the band — so unforgettable. Music that swings\, sings\, and sizzles with soul.

SUMMARY:Don Was & The Pan Detroit Ensemble
DESCRIPTION:Don Was & The Pan Detroit Ensemble are honoring the 50th Anniversary of the Grateful Dead’s Blues for Allah. Expect deep grooves\, open jams\, and music from Don Was’ latest album\, Groove in the Face of Adversity. \nDon Was has deep roots in music and deep roots in Detroit. Born in the Motor City in 1952\, he has enjoyed a Grammy-winning career as a musician\, record producer\, music director\, film composer\, documentary filmmaker\, and radio host. Since 2011\, he has served as president of America’s jazz label\, Blue Note Records. \nHis latest band\, The Pan Detroit Ensemble\, is made up of stellar musicians from his hometown\, including long-time collaborators like Dave McMurray on sax and Eminem’s Oscar-winning collaborator\, keyboardist Luis Resto. Additional musicians include trombonist Vincent Chandler\, trumpeter John Douglas\, drummer John Canady\, percussionist Mahindi Masai\, guitarist Wayne Gerard\, and vocalist Steffanie Christi’an. \n“There is a unique sound and feel to Detroit that permeates the music in a way that resonates with people all over the globe\,” Was said. “There is a rawness\, a lack of pretension\, and an unmistakable\, underlying groove that reflects the people and culture of the entire city. When the opportunity came to put together a new band\, the message was clear to me: go back to Detroit where I came from\, be who I am\, play who I am\, and team up with some like-minded individuals.” The band released its debut album in 2025. \nFor his work as a record producer\, Don Was has won six Grammy Awards\, including Album of the Year for Bonnie Raitt in 1989 and Producer of the Year in 1994. Records that he has produced have sold close to 100 million albums for a wide array of artists including The Rolling Stones\, Bob Dylan\, Willie Nelson\, John Mayer\, Ringo Starr\, and the B-52s. He produced and directed the documentary about the life of the late Brian Wilson\, I Just Wasn’t Made for These Times\, which won the San Francisco Film Festival’s Golden Gate Award. He won a 2014 Emmy Award for Outstanding Musical Direction for his work on a special about The Beatles\, The Night That Changed America. \nTalented in so many directions\, it is music that ties it all together and all roads lead back to Detroit. As he said\, he came back to where he came from so he could “be who I am\, play who I am\, and team up with some like-minded individuals.” \nCome see Don Was and his like-minded individuals. He’ll be who he is and play who he is\, and you’ll be glad you’re there to hear it.

SUMMARY:Adam Ezra Group
DESCRIPTION:He takes a month out of each year to visit the living rooms of his fans around the country…\nHis band and nonprofit organization RallySound host a free festival every summer that raised $161\,000 for homeless veterans in 2025…\nHe live-streamed for 500 nights in a row during the pandemic…\nThey co-produced an album with 163 fans…\nIf you haven’t connected with Adam Ezra Group yet\, these are just a few examples to help you understand how this underground\, Americana songwriter and his bandmates seem to have popped out of nowhere\, establishing a connection with their fans unlike any other\, and are suddenly selling out theaters throughout the Northeast. \nAdam Ezra will joke with you that while the “nowhere” part might be accurate\, nothing has ever just “popped” for this folk musician\, activist. Without resources\, connections\, or any kind of clue how the music world works\, Ezra began playing shows over 20 years ago. When music venues wouldn’t hire him\, he played bars\, bookstores\, fields\, and parking lots\, often raising money for causes he cared about; a practice that grew into his nonprofit organization RallySound. \n“We’d play 5 hours a night\,” Adam reminisces\, “more often than not\, in danger of outnumbering the audiences we were playing for…” \nSo how did this band operating so far outside the traditional music world come to win New England Music Award’s “Americana Act of the Year” in 2023? What could have happened to inspire John Oates to call Adam and invite him to begin a songwriting friendship that would lead to John producing their co write\, “Hold Each Other Now”? What happened to catch the attention of The Wallflowers\, who recently invited AEG to join them on their spring tour\, or SPIN Magazine who recently proclaimed\, “This Independent Underground Folk Band Is Blowing Up Without Selling Out”? \nIf you ask Adam\, he’ll tell you: \n“One person at a time\, over many years and thousands of shows\, decided to turn their heads to listen. One person at a time decided to share our music with folks they care about. That’s always been our story. It’s no fairytale\, but it sure makes me proud and humbled when I look out from the stage to watch theaters full of people singing along to our music.” \nFrom January 24 through show night on February 6\, The Lyric Theatre will host a collection bin for nonperishable food donations benefiting House of Hope. We invite concertgoers to bring an item to help support local families and stock our food pantries. \nTogether\, through the power of music and generosity\, we can make a difference. Thank you to Adam Ezra Group and The Lyric Theatre for helping turn this night into something truly meaningful. \nCan’t make it to the show but still want to support? Visit hohmartin.org/donate
