SUMMARY:Gopher Tortoise Habitat Restoration
DESCRIPTION:Join our AmeriCorps Volunteers in improving gopher tortoise habitat by removing invasive plants from the sandy hills of Hawks Bluff. \n\n\n\n\nJoin our AmeriCorps Invasive Plant Terminators in celebrating National Gopher Tortoise Day by volunteering to remove invasive plants from gopher tortoise habitats. \nInvasive plants push out many of the native plants that gopher tortoises prefer to eat. Also\, the rapid and continuous growth of invasive plants change the landscape which prevents gopher tortoises from making their homes. \nVolunteers that participate in this activity will have their entrance fee waived for the day to Savannas Preserve State Park. \nHawk’s Bluff Trail has some hills and can get hot from the sun reflecting off the white sugar sand. There are no restrooms at this site\, so plan accordingly. Please bring a refillable water bottle\, sun protection\, closed-toe shoes\, gloves*(if you have them)\, and wear long pants(recommended to protect you from brush). \n*A limited supply of gloves will be available to borrow. \nAn ice water cooler will be brought for volunteers to refill their water bottles\, a 10×10 canopy to serve as a shady break spot\, and plenty of garbage bags will be provided. \nFor questions\, please call 772-398-2779

SUMMARY:Wonderful Things…The Return of King Tut
DESCRIPTION:“As my eyes grew accustomed to the light\, details of the room within emerged slowly from the mist\, strange animals\, statues\, and gold – everywhere the glint of gold…when Lord Carnarvon\, unable to stand the suspense any longer\, inquired anxiously\, ‘Can you see anything?’ it was all I could do to get out the words\, ‘Yes\, wonderful things.’” – Howard Carter \nStep Into the Tomb…\nThis fall\, the Elliott Museum invites you on an extraordinary journey back in time. Opening September 19\, 2025\, our main gallery will be transformed into a breathtaking recreation of one of the greatest archaeological discoveries in history — the tomb of Tutankhamun. \nIn collaboration with Tarek Ragab and the Egyptian Art Center in Cairo\, we are proud to present “Wonderful Things… The Return of King Tut.” Like Howard Carter peering into the boy king’s tomb in 1922\, visitors will enter a mysterious\, dimly lit chamber shimmering with gold\, mystery\, and wonder. \nPainstakingly recreated by master historians and artisans in Egypt using authentic materials and centuries-old techniques\, these artifacts are more than replicas — they are a tribute to the genius and grandeur of ancient Egyptian craftsmanship. Every detail is designed to transport you — to make you feel the thrill of discovery. \nThis once-in-a-lifetime experience will run from September 19\, 2025 through April 30\, 2026\, giving you ample time to step into the shadows of history and witness the wonder for yourself. \nCome see what Carter saw. Enter the tomb. Discover the wonder. \nALL EXHIBITS ARE INCLUDED WITH REGULAR ADMISSIONS

SUMMARY:Masterworks Series IV
DESCRIPTION:Themes and Variations\nWe close our season with three tributes—each a reflection on musical lineage and transformation. Brahms’ Variations on a Theme of Haydn\, originally for two pianos\, pays homage to a melody once thought to be Haydn’s. While the theme’s true origins remain uncertain\, the variations themselves are a masterclass in invention and reverence\, echoing Haydn’s discipline and craft. \nBefore intermission we’ll welcome Karen Schubert\, ACO’s principal horn\, for Mozart’s Fourth Horn Concerto—a playful\, virtuosic gem written for his close friend and brilliant horn player\, Joseph Leutgeb. The second half explores transformations of piano music. Hindemith’s Symphonic Metamorphosis bursts with color and energy\, reimagining Weber’s charming four-hand parlor pieces as an orchestral tour de force. In the spirit of musical evolution\, pianist Tao Lin and Maestro Amado will present selections from Weber’s original piano works\, illuminating Hindemith’s ingenious craft.

SUMMARY:A.C.T. Studio Theatre presents the Romantic Comedy "6 Rms Riv Vu" by Bob Randall
DESCRIPTION:If you’re in the mood for a light-hearted comedy\, step into the world of ‘70s New York City and an apartment for rent on Manhattan’s prestigious Riverside Drive. The title “6 Rms Riv Vu\,” written by Bob Randall\, is meant as the real estate ad for this coveted six-room apartment. The river view is up for debate\, but the sweetness of this urban romantic comedy is not. \n“6 Rms Riv Vu” is a charming look at ‘70s culture through the eyes of two strangers\, a man and a woman\, who wind up spending the night together after being locked in the vacant apartment—a storyline only possible before cell phones. Both married\, he’s a frustrated advertising copywriter and she’s a bored housewife worried that life is passing her by. The couple may be an unlikely pair\, but put a man and a woman in private\, close proximity for an extended period of time and sexual or even romantic sparks could begin to fly. \nThe night brings smart\, funny banter and a raft of laugh-out-loud one-liners a la Neil Simon. Yet there is also poignancy beneath the flirtations. The play’s success on Broadway was followed with a TV special starring Alan Alda and Carol Burnett. \nSome call this play a forgotten gem. Others say it’s a once contemporary play that’s now a fascinating time capsule. Either way\, one thing has not changed: opposites still attract and romance still abounds. \nThis Manhattan apartment will be on stage at A.C.T. Studio Theatre weekends April 10 – 26: Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00 p.m.\, Sundays at 3:00 p.m. For tickets and information\, visit actstudiotheatre.com or call (772) 932-8880. Tickets are $28. A.C.T. Studio Theatre\, a nonprofit theater\, is located in the Cedar Pointe Plaza\, 2399 SE Ocean Blvd.\, Stuart.

SUMMARY:House of Hope Gleaning
DESCRIPTION:At House of Hope\, we pride ourselves on offering nutritious options and fresh produce in all four of our Client Choice food pantries. One of the ways we secure produce is by participating in gleaning during the winter and spring months through a partnership with CROS Ministries. \nGleaning is harvesting the produce remaining after a field has been professionally picked. This produce is considered below market grade which means it might be smaller or larger than what supermarkets consider “shelf-worthy\,” but it is still just as nutritious! Once harvested\, the produce is distributed to our pantries instead of being plowed back into the soil. Without volunteers\, we are unable to participate and we need all the help we can get! \nThis is a great event for groups and families\, as children 5 and up are welcome to participate. You must pre-register to participate!
