SUMMARY:Wonderful Things…The Return of King Tut
DESCRIPTION:“As my eyes grew accustomed to the light\, details of the room within emerged slowly from the mist\, strange animals\, statues\, and gold – everywhere the glint of gold…when Lord Carnarvon\, unable to stand the suspense any longer\, inquired anxiously\, ‘Can you see anything?’ it was all I could do to get out the words\, ‘Yes\, wonderful things.’” – Howard Carter \nStep Into the Tomb…\nThis fall\, the Elliott Museum invites you on an extraordinary journey back in time. Opening September 19\, 2025\, our main gallery will be transformed into a breathtaking recreation of one of the greatest archaeological discoveries in history — the tomb of Tutankhamun. \nIn collaboration with Tarek Ragab and the Egyptian Art Center in Cairo\, we are proud to present “Wonderful Things… The Return of King Tut.” Like Howard Carter peering into the boy king’s tomb in 1922\, visitors will enter a mysterious\, dimly lit chamber shimmering with gold\, mystery\, and wonder. \nPainstakingly recreated by master historians and artisans in Egypt using authentic materials and centuries-old techniques\, these artifacts are more than replicas — they are a tribute to the genius and grandeur of ancient Egyptian craftsmanship. Every detail is designed to transport you — to make you feel the thrill of discovery. \nThis once-in-a-lifetime experience will run from September 19\, 2025 through April 30\, 2026\, giving you ample time to step into the shadows of history and witness the wonder for yourself. \nCome see what Carter saw. Enter the tomb. Discover the wonder. \nALL EXHIBITS ARE INCLUDED WITH REGULAR ADMISSIONS

SUMMARY:The Barn Theatre Presents the Tony Award Winning Musical Into the Woods\, May 14 - May 31
DESCRIPTION:Into the Woods\, the beloved Tony Award Winning musical with music and lyrics by the great Stephen Sondheim\, premiered on Broadway in 1987. The show intertwines several classic fairy tales\, including Cinderella\, Jack and the Beanstalk\, Little Red Riding Hood\, and Rapunzel\, blending them into a single narrative. The story revolves around a baker and his wife\, who enter the woods desperate to lift a curse placed upon them\, leading them to encounter other fairy tale figures\, each seeking their own happily ever after. With its mix of humor\, heartache\, and magical storytelling\, Into the Woods\, continues to captivate audiences\, proving that while fairy tales may promise happy endings\, real life is far more complex – and that we all must navigate our own journey through the woods. \nTickets are now on sale. Call 772-287-4884 or barn-theatre.com. Group discounts available

SUMMARY:House of Hope Gleaning
DESCRIPTION:At House of Hope\, we pride ourselves on offering nutritious options and fresh produce in all four of our Client Choice food pantries. One of the ways we secure produce is by participating in gleaning during the winter and spring months through a partnership with CROS Ministries. \nGleaning is harvesting the produce remaining after a field has been professionally picked. This produce is considered below market grade which means it might be smaller or larger than what supermarkets consider “shelf-worthy\,” but it is still just as nutritious! Once harvested\, the produce is distributed to our pantries instead of being plowed back into the soil. Without volunteers\, we are unable to participate and we need all the help we can get! \nThis is a great event for groups and families\, as children 5 and up are welcome to participate. You must pre-register to participate!
