Do you have a story rattling around in your head? Flannery O’Connor once said that anybody who has survived his childhood has enough material to write for the rest of his days. In this creative nonfiction/memoir workshop, we will mine our memories through writing prompts and exercises in order to get our stories out of our heads and onto the page. Through short reading and writing assignments, and the study of those who have mastered the art of essay and memoir, we will unearth the components of good writing, offer feedback on each other’s writing in a safe and supportive setting, and learn how to navigate publishing our work in journals and literary magazines.
